Harvest Monday is hosted by
Daphne's Dandelions and is a great way to share what's coming out of your garden and see what other people are growing in their gardens as well! The word of the week - greens!

And a great reward for the week - a yummy steak! |
I'm not really sure where the week went, but it's harvest Monday again, and I'm barely skating in under the radar. I'm hoping that I get a chance to blog a bit more this week though. Bt now it's late and I'm sure that Gray will think that 5 am is a perfect time to start the day - blech! So nighty night and happy gardening!
The greens look great and the grilled egg plant looks very yummy. The smashed potatoes and steak were pretty appealing too! :D
ReplyDeleteEggplants are one of my all time favourite veggies and I love the kid-for-scale photo. I tried to get my four year old to do that for me yesterday next to a kale plant and she has such an expression of 'oh-god-my-mother-is-making-me-do-this' that I didn't include the picture.
ReplyDeleteI miss the komatsuna this year. I grew it last year and in my old garden this year. But not in my new garden yet.
ReplyDeleteNartaya, your greens look absolutely fabulous! I'm so envious that you can grow multiple heads of those asian greens, as mine keep getting munched down to the nub by pesky cabbage worms. Your son holding the greens provided a really good comparison, even though he looks a little less than thrilled to be posing for the picture. :) Your eggplants, potatoes and steak looks delicious, too!
ReplyDeletekitsapFG - Thanks! I highly recommend the FT eggplants, very smooth and creamy.
ReplyDeleteOttawa Gardener - He's 3, so I'm 99.9% sure we were having a "spirited discussion" minutes before the picture was taken. The picture taking may have even been a olive branch...
Daphne - How did you cook your komatsuna? We stir-fried, but I think it might be better in soup. I'm still experimenting since it is a new vegetable for me. I will see what my mom does with it when she visits next month.
Thyme - Thanks! (secret.... the greens are from this summer!) Try the water bottle trick, it seems to be doing wonders for my peas and other greens. I'm jealous of your new raised beds, I have to get planning on mine so I can put together my Christmas list (and they will be on that list!).
